====== Freshwater Biome ====== The **freshwater biome** is naturally occuring water on the world's lakes, rivers, ponds, and streams. A largest source of freshwater is rain, mist, or snow from the atmosphere. Most of the freshwater in the world is locked in the [[wp>ice sheet]], [[wp>ice cap]], and [[wp>iceberg]] found in the [[creatures:polar biome]]. Fresh water is characterized by having low concentrations (< 0.05%) of dissolved salts; although it includes mineral-rich waters.
