====== Rural Freemen Social ====== The difference between a Freemen and [[servile|Servile]] is not wealth or land. Rather, it is in the degree of personal freedom enjoyed by the freemen over the servile. This freedom does come with a measure of feudal obligation, but in general a freemen is permitted to come and go as they please. ====== Adjustments ====== A Freemen gains the adjustments to their character * +1 rank to any three skills in which the character has at least Basic Knowledge * +2 Basic Action Points ====== Family Vocation ====== ^ d% ^ Family's Vocation ^ Starting Skills ^ Social Status ^ | 01 - 03 | Freehold Miller | Milling, Bargaining, Quarterstaff, 1 Skill | 12 | | 04 - 37 | Freehold Farmer | 1 Agricultural Skills, Quarterstaff, 1 Skill | 12 | | 47 - 58 | Freehold Herder | 2 Animal Skills, Quarterstaff, 1 Skill | 15 | | 59 - 61 | Petit Sergeant | 2 Agricultural **or** Animal Skills, Riding, Mounted Combat, 1 Combat Skill | 18 | | 62 - 63 | Carpenter | Carpentry, Mace Combat, 1 Skill | 10 | | 64 - 65 | Mason | Masonry, Mace Combat, 1 Skill | 10 | | 66 - 67 | Charcoaler | Charcoaling, Quarterstaff, 1 Skill | 10 | | 68 - 69 | Chandler | Chandler, Quarterstaff, 1 Skill | 10 | | 70 - 80 | Forester | Archery, Quarterstaff, 2 Outdoor Skills | 10 | | 81 - 82 | Timberwright | Lumbering, Mace Combat, 1 Outdoor Skill | 10 | | 83 - 84 | Fisherman | Fishing, Fisherman, Small Boats, Spear | 10 | | 85 - 87 | Blacksmith | Blacksmithing, Mace Combat, 1 Skill | 12 | | 88 - 89 | Brick Maker | Brick making, Quarterstaff, 1 Skill | 10 | | 90 - 91 | Potter | Pottery Making, Endurance, 1 Skill | 12 | | 92 | Friar | Theology, 1 Lore Skill, 1 Skill | 12 | | 93 - 94 | Miner | Mining, Endurance, 1 Skill | 10 | | 95 - 97 | Laborer | Endurance, Conditioning, Lifting, 1 Skill | 07 | | 100 | Magus | Any Language (written), 1 Lore Skill, 1 Materia Magicka Skill, 1 Skill | 16 | All vocations, except the Friar, have a 5% chance of also being the **Constable**. This means they owe no rents on the land to the local lord and are free to rent or sell the land. There is a 10% chance of a freeholder also being wealthy enough to own a horse and be considered Cavalry instead of Footman. This adds a further **+3 Status Points**, **1 Combat Skill**, **Riding**, and **Mounted Combat**. If this is the case then the PC gains all of the benefits of the [[cns:feudal_gentry|Feudal Gentry]] and **+2 Status Points**.
