====== Concentration ====== Enables a character to stay focused on one or more tasks. ====== Data ====== ^ Type | Standard | ^ Attributes | DISC x2 | ^ DF | 3 | ^ Notes | None | ====== Description ====== Concentration enables a person to stay focused on a task, even when disruptive events are going on around them. This skill is especially useful for those that need to perform their tasks perfectly or that cannot be disturbed without impairing one's chance of success. - Concentration allows someone to prepare and delay a task for a short time without penalty (aiming an arrow or hold off finish casting a spell). - Concentration for more than 15 seconds during battle requires a Concentration check. A person can concentrate on a single task for up to **PSF% minutes** for the cost of **-1 FP**. After that they must pass a Concentration check to concentrate on the same task for another **PSF% minutes at a cost of another -1 FP**. Each time after the first the person must make a Concentration check with an increasing **-10% penalty**. - Concentration on a **single task** can give a person a boost of **+CritDie bonus** to a single skill for each 15 second time increment they concentrate, up to a total of **+25%**. - Concentrating enables one to accomplish several tasks at one time. Each of these tasks take a cumulative penalty of **-5 TSC%**. As an example trying to accomplish 4 different tasks gives a -20% penalty to all of the tasks. - If concentrating on a **single task** a **success with a CritDie 10+** gives the person a +(2+(10-CritDie)) to the CritDie of the task they are concentrating one. - If the character **fails** to keep their concentration then they get a **(10-CritDie)x5 penalty** to all skill checks they were concentrating on. Caroline is concentrating on a spell she wishes to cast. Unfortunately Toric attacks here, which forces her to dodge. She now must make a **Concentration** check at -20%, since she is attempting two actions. Her skill is 73% -20% = 53%. She rolls a 41% with a CritDie of 5 for a Success. She maintains concentration on both acts and suffers no additional penalty to either one. However, she cannot add the CritDie as a bonus because she is using this with two skills. Suppose she failed her **Concentration** check with a CritDie of 4. She would then take a penalty of -20% on both her **Dodge** skill and **Casting** skill. {{tag>cns skill resolution}}
