====== Lake Urr See ====== **Lake Urr See** is the fourth largest freshwater lake in the [[atlas:Western Realms]]. It is the source of the [[atlas:Zun River]]. The lake is feed by a large underground spring as well as several smaller streams. ===== Statistics ===== * **Location:** [[atlas:Kingdom of Dakar]] * **Primary Outflows:** [[atlas:Zun River]] * **Dimensions:** * Max Length: 35 km (22 miles) * Max Width: 20 km (12 miles) * Surface Area: 500 sq. km (193 sq. miles) * **Depth:** * Average Depth: 300 meters (984 ft) * Max Depth: 500 meters (1640 ft) ===== Geography ===== Lake Urr See is the deepest natural lake in the Western Realms with a maximum depth of over 500 meters (1640 ft). Lake Urr See is feed by 50 tributaries along with a large underground spring. The [[atlas:Zun River]] is the lake's only outlet. The river flows southeast until it empties into the [[atlas:Caragan Sea]]. Only about a fifth of the water that leaves the lake does so through the Zun River; the rest evaporates. A large fault runs under the lake. The lake used to be the headwaters of the Zun River, but when the fault last slipped it changed the course of the Zun River, forming [[atlas:Lake Stolps]] in the process. The branch of the Zun River emptying from Lake Urr See is shallow, slow, and silty - only running clear in the spring. ===== Communities ===== ==== Laketonne ==== The largest town on the lake. [[atlas:Laketonne]] is located along the northeastern shore at its widest point. Many of the ships that dock at the town cannot make the trip south to the Zun River, their draft is too deep. Instead they fish and take supplies to the various villages and [[#Rolfend]]. A large ridge of rock was pushed up during an earthquake exposing a large seam of iron along with several types of semi-precious stones. ==== Rolfend ==== A large town built upon the southwestern shore of the lake, [[atlas:Rolfend]] controls the outlet to the Zun River. The town yearly dredges the riverbed to keep a clear channel for boats to travel along. ===== See Also ===== * [[atlas:List of Lakes]] * [[atlas:List of Lakes in Dakar]] {{tag>lake geography dakar}}
