====== Eastern Jewels ====== This region is so named because it is very different from the rest of the [[Miran]] [[wp>continent]]. Shielded from most of the effects of the polar jet stream the temperature varies little even during the depths of winter. Combined with plenty of warm air from both the [[Maritic Ocean]] and [[Serpente Sea]] and this area receives more rainfall that any other area on Miran. This region is divided into five smaller regions. The [[Anor Mountains]] run north to south marking the western boundary of this region. The [[wp>Salt Marsh]] and [[wp>swamps]] in the south have hundreds of rivers creating dozens of [[wp>estuaries]] leaving very little dry land. The far north is the [[Ghalib Mountain Range]] which is the highest mountain range in Miran and contains the highest peaks on Miran, perpetually snow-capped this range is what keeps the polar jet stream from the lands to the south. The [[Izz-Al-Din Highlands]] is a land of deep valleys and high ridges that borders both the Ghalib Range and Anor Mountains. The flawless jewel of the east is the [[Jinan Valley]] located in the center of his region, a truer paradise cannot be found upon this world. //**Eastern Jewels**// \\ images \\ map region \\ map world | **Regional Statistics** || | **Composition** | [[Turan]] \\ [[Kresh]] \\ [[Sithara]] \\ [[Red Wolves]] | | **Area** | xx sq. km | | **Population** | xxx | | **Largest Cities** | none | ===== Weather ===== Even the lands in the far north of this region do not suffer under the extreme temperature variations found in the other parts of Miran. Shielded from the arctic polar winds the tropical jet stream influences weather all along the coast. Spring tends to be wet, summers are warm and frequently humid, fall is mild and sees the least amount of rainfall. Only in the deepest part of winter is the weather cold enough to drop any significant snowfall upon this region, ice and sleet are more common. This area is very different from the nearby [[Bronze Sea]] in the amount of precipitation that falls. The Ghalib Mountain Range has a great deal of snowfall (300-500 inches per year) with the Anor Mountains seeing less (50-120 inches per year), but the rest of the area is more closely like warm temperate or even [[wp>sub-tropical]] locations. Flooding is frequently a problem during the heavy rains of the spring season when the snow in the Anor Mountains is melting. The summer and fall months can see heavy rains caused by tropical storms and [[wp>hurricanes]] that move along the coast. Every 1-2 years a hurricane will make landfall generally in the south, but only once every 20-40 years is one of them larger than Category 2. ===== Physical Geography ===== This region is comprised of three major geographical areas. The Anor Mountains borders the west and northern boundaries, the [[Beyaz Swamp]] is the lowlands in the south, and the [[Jinan Valley]] is the well sheltered land in the center along the eastern shoreline of the [[Maritic Ocean]]. The [[Anor Mountains]] contains the highest mountain ranges found anywhere on Miran. While the peaks of the [[Gate of the Gods]] reaches nearly 22,000 feet there are over 50 mountains in Anor that exceed 23,000 feet. The highest range is the [[Ghalib Mountain Range]] which peaks at 24,500 feet. ===== Nations ===== {{topic>eastern_jewels +nation &table&header&nodate&nouser&desc&sort}} ===== Geography ===== {{topic>eastern_jewels +geography &table&header&nodate&nouser&desc&sort}} {{tag>miran region}}
