===== History =====

The Duchy of Haibach encompasses the lands of the [[atlas:Kingdom of Dakar]] west of the [[atlas:Fuldelf Ridge]] to the shores of the [[atlas:Isaurus Ocean]]. The duchy was first created by a treaty between the kingdom and  [[atlas:Ellendar]], who laid claim to the lands. This treaty granted the lands from the [[atlas:Zun River]] to the Isaurus Ocean to the Dakarians in exchange for their help fighting [[atlas:Xian]].

The duchy was not created until 185 [[lore:AH]], when Sir Gotfrid Haibach, fourth son of Graf Schreiber, led a large number of soldiers and craftsmen over the Fuldelf Ridge. They settled in nearly ruined port town of [[atlas:Heimmelstang]]. After a sharp dispute between several powerful Earls, King [[people:Reiner III]] created the Duchy of Haibach and made Lord Gotfrid the first Duke of Haibach. In 213 [[atlas:Bornheim]] was recognized as the Ducal seat.

==== Graubruke ====

This is the safest and most accessible east-west pass over the Fuldelf Ridge. The pass itself along the eastern slope is wide and cuts north and south making it the far easier ascent. The western slope is more treacherous and occasionally blocked by rock slides. The pass is frequently closed by heavy rains, snow, and occasionally monsters that come down from the more remote mountains.

The eastern pass begins at the town of [[atlas:Olsa]], while the western edge is the town of [[atlas:Cemer]]. Atop the peak is the isolated [[atlas:Raut Keep]]. Long considered a keep where malcontents in the Duke's service end up - it is not always considered safe for merchants to stop. Most merchants know of a few "hidden" trails where they cannot be seen as they pass by the keep.
